Shimmering metallics will sit alongside jewelled beauties this season. Platform heels will be covered by leather and Mary Janes are expected to walk two by two off the shelves. At least, this is the view of shoe designer Kerrie Munro. Munro's label I Love Billy specialises in the staple of past and present seasons - the round-toed ballerina shoe.

Women are continuing to embrace their quacks' advice and are kicking off their heels in droves. 'The ballet flat has just been phenomenal," Munro said. There's also plenty of colour and sparkle on her design table
in preparation for the spring and summer months. Munro said shoe retailers were already crying out for more yellow, while orange was particularly popular in heels and gold was rivalling silver.

And there's another shade to, stock up on - white. "Retailers are already telling us whites are selling strongly. "I think it is just a little bit of a different thing that hasn't been around for a while," she said. The white shoe could complement a summer of white fashion, if European trends are picked up Down Under. The vintage look will carry on into the warm months with classic Mary Janes and fresher T-bars already appearing.
Munro expected sandals to continue gathering dust for another season, and said jelly flats would make a comeback.

Buttons and bows will be a popular addition to solid colours, while jewels will make another appearance, albeit on a smaller scale than last season. Munro's designs will be on show for buyers at this weekend's Australian Shoe Fair at Melbourne Exhibition Centre.
