Rachel HunterRachel Hunter began modelling by age 17 and appeared on the covers of fashion magazines, including Vogue, Cosmopolitan and on the 1994 "Dream Team" cover of Sports Illustrated's annual swimwear issue. At the age of 21 she wed British rock star Rod Stewart, who is 24 years her senior. Together they had two children, Renee and Liam. In January 1999, Hunter and Stewart separated. Since then she has been romantically linked with other stars such as Robbin Williams, Bruce Willis and Kevin Costner. She has also been linked to many rockers including Robbie Williams, Wes Scantlin, Tommy Lee. She is currently dating Jarret Stoll of the Edmonton Oilers. Hunter became the face and body of Ultimo, a Scottish lingerie house, in 2004, famously replacing Penny Lancaster, the then-girlfriend of Rod Stewart. She lost the Ultimo contract in November 2005. She was paid a reported $1.8 million to pose topless for Playboy magazine in 2004. She appeared in several independent movies, including 1999's A Walk in the Park and 2000's Two Shades of Blue. She had a brief appearance as a sexy "soccer mom" in Dennis Dugan's The Benchwarmers (2006) and also played a sultry, bikini-clad mother in the video clip for Fountains of Wayne's 2003 song Stacy's Mom. She has been a contestant on the TV-series Dancing with the Stars and The Real Gilligans Island. In 2005 she hosted a series of "Make Me A Supermodel", a reality show for Britain's Five TV channel. The series was marked by an ongoing feud between Hunter and contestant Jasmine Lennard. In 2006 she hosted a reality program for US cable TV channel WE, Style Me With Rachel Hunter. Contestants on the show participated in a series of fashion challenges to prove that they "measured up" and were capable of being Hunter's stylist. Hunter, Phillip Bloch, and Milica Kastner were judges. The opportunity to style Hunter for the People's Choice Awards and a cash prize was awarded to the winner, Buick Audra. On January 18, 2006, Hunter was slotted to appear on The Howard Stern Show, which is broadcast on Sirius Satellite Radio. It would have been her fourth appearance on Stern's show. She never even made it into the studio. Hunter and her publicist claimed that they didn't realize the show would be taped for Stern's inDemand channel, and backed out because she wasn't "camera-ready", despite comments from producers that she looked fine. After some deliberating and a show-down between her publicists and the producers, Hunter stormed out of the building, cancelling four other appearances that she was to have made in the Sirius building. In Stern's anger, he referred to her as "fat" and a "nobody" while his sound effects man, Fred, played sounds of cows mooing. A Stern staffer later picketed a Hunter appearance with a megaphone. Rachel was awarded the modelling deal with the makers of Ultimo bras - by replacing Stewart's girlfiend, Penny Lancaster. At the time, Stewart criticised the company's founder Michelle Mone as a "manipulative cow". But Mone has praised Hunter's work over the past year, and insists she made the right choice saying: "Rachel has been fantastic." |
